SilverStar — Canada's Colourful Hidden Gem in the Okanagan

SilverStar in British Columbia's Okanagan is everything a North American ski resort should be — a colourful, purpose-built Victorian mining-town village, champagne powder, night skiing, and virtually zero lift lines. Getting There

Fly to Kelowna (YLW) — a small international airport with direct flights from Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, and seasonal connections from Seattle. SilverStar is just 58km (about 1 hour) from Kelowna. Many hotels offer shuttle transfers, or rent a car for exploring the Okanagan wine country.

Where to Stay

The village is entirely ski-in/ski-out. Vance Creek Hotel is the premium option. Firelight Lodge and Pinnacles Suite Hotel offer great mid-range value. Condos and townhouses are plentiful and ideal for families — expect CAD 150–250/night for a two-bedroom unit. Everything is slopeside.

On the Mountain

SilverStar has 132 runs across 115km with a good mix: 20% beginner, 50% intermediate, 30% advanced. The Attridge area has long cruisers, the Putnam Creek side offers glades and steeps, and the Vance Creek expansion added serious expert terrain. Night skiing runs Wednesday to Saturday on selected trails. The snow is classic interior BC champagne powder — dry, light, and plentiful.

Where to Eat

The Bulldog Grand Café is the village hub — good burgers and craft beer. Bugaboos Bakery & Café does great breakfasts. Long John's Pub has a lively après-ski scene. On the mountain, Paradise Camp Day Lodge has surprisingly good cafeteria-style food.

• Night skiing is included in your day pass — ski until 7pm on selected nights for incredible value.
• The cross-country and snowshoe trail network (105km) is one of Canada's best and included in the lift pass.
