Getting There
Fly to Geneva (GVA), about 2 hours via the Mont Blanc tunnel, or Turin (TRN), also around 2 hours. Milan Malpensa (MXP) works too at about 2.5 hours. From the French side, Chamonix is just 20 minutes through the tunnel — making a twin-resort trip very doable.
Where to Stay
The pedestrianised Via Roma is the heart of the village — lined with boutiques, delis, and cafés. Grand Hotel Royal e Golf is the prestige address. Hotel Bouton d'Or and Auberge de la Maison are excellent mid-range. Apartments in nearby Entrèves or Dolonne are more affordable and closer to the lifts.
On the Mountain
Courmayeur has around 100km of skiing across the Chécrouit and Val Vény sides, reaching 2,755m. The terrain is heavily tilted towards intermediates and advanced skiers — long, rolling reds and steep off-piste. The Mont Blanc Unlimited pass extends your reach to 723km across three countries including Chamonix.
Where to Eat
Mountain restaurants here are exceptional. Maison Vieille in Val Vény serves gourmet Valdostana cuisine at altitude. Chiecco on the Chécrouit side has legendary polenta. In the village, Cadran Solaire and Pierre Alexis 1877 are standouts. The aperitivo culture at Caffe della Posta is not to be missed.
